Here are Few Perfect Recipes that Keep Alive your Irish Heritage

Long back, the Irish made up of a large chunk of immigrants in the United States of America and their disceulants claim Irish blood in one generation or the other. Every year the country celebrates St. Patricks Day, as if all people are Irish whether you celebrate your own heritage or experience the taste of another culture Irish recipes come to your help.

Corned Beef and Cabbage

Corned beef and cabbage, one of the most recognizable Irish recipes, is very simple to make by buying the corned beef which is pickled brisket. You require a joint of corned beef placed in a pot and covered with water. Boil the water and add two large onions, two large carrots and some potatoes, a bay leaf and some pepper to taste. Simmer for 20 minutes then add one cabbage, quartered and simmer for another half an hour.

Serve the meat surrounded by the vegetables like many Irish recipes, extra mashed potatoes will make the meal perfect. With just a little time you can create your own meal.

Soda Bread

Soda bread is another traditional Irish recipe. This, as the name suggests has baking soda as the leavening agent in stead of yeast as in traditional breads. For soda bread you require 4 cups of flour, one tea spoon of baking soda, one tea spoon of salt and about 2.1/2 cups of butter milk. The rising is due to baking soda, which is a base that reacts with the acidic lactic acid in butter milk. As this bread is easy to make, you can perfect your own recipe, and add other ingredients like raisins to improve it.

Boxty

Boxty is one among the many Irish recipes that uses potatoes very healthy. This is a traditional potato pan cake. This can be made by grating 1 cup of raw potato that is squeezed, adding one cup of mashed potato, two cups of flour, about a tea spoon each of baking powder, salt and butter. Kneed the mixture and divide in to flat cakes that can be baked or fried. Unlike the harsh browns this has a much finer texture. This like the other recipes is simple to make. You can try and see how good a celebration of Irish cuisine can taste.
